Stephen Vogt, who announced his retirement after last season, takes his first steps as a leader.
On the 11th (Korean time), the Seattle Mariners announced a coaching staff to assist director Scott Service through their official website 스포츠토토. Vogt is a new member of the team. Vogt will be coaching the bullpen and quality control in Seattle.
Vogt made his debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2012, and has since played mostly for the Oakland Athletic, San Francisco Giants, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers.
He recorded a batting average of 0.239, 82 homers, 313 RBIs, and an OPS of 0.707 over 10 seasons, and was selected as an All-Star twice. Last year, he had a batting average of 0.161, 7 homers, 23 RBIs, and an OPS of 0.562, and took off his uniform.
Vogt said at the time of his retirement interview, “I want to be a manager,” and he will take the first step this season.
Vogt said in a phone interview with ‘MLB.com’ that day, “I have a lot to learn from service manager and assistant general manager Andy McKay, and I decided that it was suitable for me to do something new in my career. Seattle is a really exciting team, and I got a good chance.” 스포츠토토
“I played a lot as a catcher. I think being in the bullpen and being able to help with catch and game planning suits me really well. I will do my best,” he explained.
Director Service said, “I am happy to have confirmed the coaching staff for the 2023 season. With Vogt joining, the team is ready to build an even more successful foundation.”
