Acting CEO Lim Jae-hyun’s infinite trust in Faker Lee Sang-hyuk

“I’m grateful to the players for the 2-0 win.”

Lim, who started his professional career with T1’s predecessor SK Telecom in 2015, has often spoken of the positives since the return of Oh “Faker” Sang-hyuk, even when the team fell into a slump when he was sidelined with a right arm injury. This is because his two championships as an active player were etched in his mind.

True to his word, with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk back in the fold, T1 looked like a powerhouse again, with the lack of form they had shown during the downturn disappearing without a trace. After snapping a five-game losing streak, acting head coach Lim “Tom” Jae-hyun expressed his gratitude to his players for the second time since taking the helm.

T1 won 2-0 against Guangdong in the second round of the LOL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer 2023 at Roll Park LCK Arena in Jongno, Seoul on Sunday afternoon. Led by Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk, the team overwhelmed its opponent in the 46th minute with a series of coordinated moves to sound the second victory bell of the second round.

With the victory, T1 snapped a five-game losing streak and secured their eighth win of the season (9 L, -1 G) and fifth place.

Speaking to the media after the game, acting captain Lim Jae-hyun said, “We were in a bad mood after losing back-to-back games. I’m grateful to the players for winning with a good performance of 2-0,” said Lim, who ended a five-game losing streak.

When asked why the team hadn’t been playing well since Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk’s return, Lim cited “pressure” as the first reason. The second reason was the lack of communication.

“I think the players felt a lot of pressure when they were playing. With (Lee) Sang-hyuk back, the atmosphere improved, and the number of in-game player calls increased, so that was good.”

Speaking about T1’s performance going forward, Lim said, “We’re more in sync than before. I think it will be better than the games we played without (Faker) before,” he said, expressing his infinite trust in Lee.

“I want to thank the fans for always supporting us. The last game of the regular season is against Liv Sanbak, and we will try to win 안전놀이터 with the same performance as this time. We will also prepare well for the upcoming playoffs.”
