South Korean international striker Oh Hyun-kyu, who plays for Scottish professional football club Celtic, has won a triple treble in the club’s first season in Europe.
Celtic defeated Inverness 3-1 in the Scottish Cup final of the 2022-2023 season at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland, on Thursday (4 April).
The victory was the eighth treble for Celtic, who won the League Cup in February and clinched the title early in the regular season.
That’s the most in Scottish football history. Rangers, who form a two-way tie with Celtic, have won the treble seven times.
Oh, who joined Celtic in January from K League One side Suwon Samsung, enjoyed a treble in his first season in Europe.
After helping Gimcheon Commerce win the K League 2 (second division) title in the 2021 season while still in the military and a third-year professional, Oh has added three more titles to his collection in just half a year in a Celtic shirt.
The match ended Oh’s first season in Europe.
Despite being used as a substitute for Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi this season, Oh scored seven goals in 20 official games, including six in the regular season and one in the Scottish Cup.
After a successful season, Oh will return home on the 5th. If called upon by national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann, he will prepare the squad for two June A matches against Peru and El Salvador.
Celtic’s winning formula of ‘Furuhashi scores first – Hyun-gyu comes on’ worked again.
The Hoops took the lead in the 38th minute when Matt O’Reilly’s pass from the right was met by Furuhashi’s unstoppable finish from the edge of the area.
Oh Hyun-gyu, who came on for Furuhashi 14 minutes into the second half, was the ‘starting point’ for what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 20th minute.
On the counter-attack, Oh’s pass down the left led to Callum McGregor’s assist and Riel Abada’s finish.
Celtic conceded in the 39th minute through Daniel McKay, but Jota’s goal in stoppage time sealed the 3-1 victory 먹튀검증.
