Scott McTominay appears to want to leave Manchester United.
McTominay is United’s ‘Holy Grail Youth’. He started playing soccer at United as a child and made his professional debut there. He hasn’t been out on loan, which is something you’d expect from a top prospect. McTominay has spent his entire career at United since being called up to the first team in the 2016-17 season.
The Red Devils have consistently given McTominay opportunities. In the 2019-20 season, McTominay played 27 games in the league and 27 games in the UEFA Europa League (UEL). He followed that up with 37 starts in all competitions in 2020-21 and 35 starts last season, seemingly cementing himself as a crucial part of United’s third line. 스포츠토토
However, McTominay hasn’t progressed as expected. Despite his occasional flashes of brilliance, McTominay was never able to completely solve the third-string problem that had been one of United’s woes over the past few seasons. Eventually, when United added Casemiro and Christian Eriksen ahead of the season, McTominay was relegated to the bench. McTominay found himself on the bench or in the rotation more often than not, and only gained playing time after Eriksen went down with an injury.
He’s long since lost the title of top prospect. McTominay is now entering his late 20s. He should be in his prime, but he hasn’t been able to improve due to lack of playing time. This has led to reports that McTominay is looking to leave the club in search of playing time and has told friends of his intentions.
“McTominay has told friends he wants to leave United,” writes Wayne Bassey of Football Insider. According to sources, McTominay has reportedly said he wants to leave United for the sake of his career. McTominay has started just four league games since September. McTominay wants regular playing time at the peak of his career and is concerned that United are looking to bring in another central midfielder in the summer,” said the source, adding that McTominay is looking for a move to avoid competition and secure playing time at United.
