‘Super sub’ Troisard leads Arsenal to victory.
Arsenal defeated Everton 1-0 in the fifth round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) at Goodison Park in Liverpool, England, at 0:30 a.m. ET on Aug. 18. Arsenal (13 points, 4 wins, 1 draw) moved up to fourth place, while Everton (1 point, 1 draw, 4 losses) remained in 18th.
The home team, Everton, lined up in a 4-5-1 formation. Beto started up top as a striker. The midfield consisted of McNeil, Doucoure, Onana, Gueye, and Danjuma. The back four was Mikolenko, Branswaite, Takowski, and Young. Pickford wore the goalkeeping gloves.
Arsenal lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Martinelli, Nketiah, and Xhaka up front. In midfield, Vieira, Rice, and Ödegaard were in charge. The defense was made up of Zinchenko, Magalhaes, Saliba, and White. Raya was in goal 메이저놀이터.
Arsenal took the reins. In the ninth minute of the first half, Vieira shot, but it sailed high into the air. The balance seemed to be off. The second half was more of the same. In the 10th minute, Trosar saved a long ball in a dangerous area. He crossed it to the center of the box, but Mikolenko cleared it away. As the frustrating stalemate continued, both teams looked for a breakthrough. In the 21st minute of the second half, Arsenal took off Nketiah and brought on Jesus, while Everton took off Beto and brought on Calvert-Lewin.
Finally, the balance was broken. It was Arsenal who took the lead. In the 24th minute, a corner was cleared short. Vieira drew the opposition defense out and crossed the ball. After beating Ödegaard and Xhaka, Trosar’s left-footed shot hit the post and went straight into the back of the net.
It was Arsenal looking to widen the gap and Everton looking to catch up. In the 31st minute, Ödegaard received a pass and sped away to shoot, but Pickford made the save.
There were no further goals in the remaining time. Arsenal brought on Tomiyasu and Habertz for Zinchenko and Vieira to consolidate. Everton took off Doucoure and Young and brought on Garner and Patterson, but to no avail, as Arsenal held on for a 1-0 win.
