Kim Young-hee, a silver medalist in women’s basketball at the 1984 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics, passed away on the 31st of last month after struggling with an illness.
The deceased was 2m 5cm tall and made a name for herself as the tallest center in women’s basketball during her active career. After attending Dongju Girls’ Middle School and Soongui Girls’ High School, he played as a player in the Korean cosmetics team. He also played an active role as a top star, sweeping the popularity award and the best player award at the 1983 basketball party, ranking first in scoring and rebounding in the women’s division.
The deceased played a big role even with the Taegeuk mark. He won a silver medal at the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games, a silver medal at the 1984 LA Olympics, and a silver medal at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games. Recognized for his contributions on the international stage, he was awarded the White Horse Medal and the Maeng Tiger Medal in 1980 and 1984, respectively.
